Pancakes in Paradise

On our second night in Surfer's Paradise we decided to visit Pancakes in Paradise simply because we lurve pancakes! It was a very colourful and bright place and definitely fun to be in. Inside they had stalls with a hot air balloon so you feel like you're on a ride.

They had all you can eat pancakes with whipped butter and maple flavoured syrup for $9.95 which in hindsight might have worked out a cheaper night for us but we wanted to try different things. First up was some savoury snacks - Nachos and Chicken and Mushroom Crépes.

Nachos with the Works was corn chips covered in melted cheese, Ranchero sauce, chilli con carne, guacamole and sour cream. You can never go wrong with Nachos. It was delicious and finger licking good. The Crépes however were a disappointment. It had a chicken and mushroom in white wine cream sauce filling with mushroom sauce and a salad. When we cut into the crépe there was a lot of solid starch and not much chicken or mushroom for that matter. Whatever they use to thicken it, they obviously put too much as it just became a solid clump of grey looking stuff. Flavour was very average. Disappointing at $19.95

Now comes the best part. Dessert pancakes!! We went for Passion Pancakes and Blackforest Pancakes. They were both absolutely amazing! Passion Pancakes was two big fluffy pancakes topped with vanilla ice cream and freshly whipped cream served with sliced banana and strawberries and generous ladle of passionfruit sauce. If that's not enough sauce for you, there's maple syrup at the table.

Carl's Black forest pancake was even better. Chocolate is always better! Chocolate pancakes with fresh strawberries, blueberries, vanilla ice cream and whipped cream with chocolate fudge sauce and chunks over the top. It was delicious and a big serving so we were very full as we had already had Nachos.

It's a fun place to be in and the pancakes are definitely good. Would be nice to get real maple syrup instead of maple flavoured syrup but I guess the prices would be sky high. I'm not sure I would come back for savoury food but that's usually the rule anyway, dessert houses don't do good savoury. Service was friendly and quick. I would definitely go back for those pancakes. I want Chocolate Juliette next time!!
